"Optimizing Retailer Profitability"

MDI

Merchants Distributors, Inc.

Revionics, Inc. is pleased to welcome Merchants Distributors, Inc. (“MDI”) as our newest wholesale partner. MDI will offer Revionics' price optimization services to their retail customers located throughout seven southern states.

The partnership expands MDI’s current retail services offerings to include the Revionics Advanced Pricing System (RAPS). The RAPS solution uses Point-of-Sale (POS) generated demand data with other variables such as costs, competition, and product mix to optimize retailer pricing. Standing apart from traditional rules-based pricing, RAPS anticipates the outcome of suggested price changes, then monitors and learns from actual retail performance results. With RAPS, retailers often experience sales increases of 1-5% and margin increases of 1-2%.

Merchant’s Distributors, Inc. (MDI), based in Hickory, North Carolina, and is a subsidiary of Alex Lee, Inc. MDI is a vital link in the grocery supply chain in the south-eastern United States, supplying over 600 grocery stores in over seven states. At just under one million square feet, the MDI distribution center supplies 40,000 items in both food and non-food categories to stores across the region. Alex Lee also owns a grocery chain, Lowes Foods, as well as the nation’s 13th largest food-service distributor, Institution Food House (IFH).

As Jay Schwarz, Vice President of Information Services for Alex Lee explains, “As a wholesaler, MDI is focused on helping our retailers compete on a level playing field with larger chains. The Revionics Price Optimization system is a perfect complement to our current retail support offerings. We are excited about our new partnership with Revionics. We believe that their subscription-based licensing approach makes it easier and more affordable to get their advanced technology into the hands of our customers.”
